Get ready for some feline… something. TactiCats, a self-proclaimed “fast-paced couch party game,” is clawing its way to Switch on February 20th. We’re not entirely sure what to expect from this one, but we’re cautiously optimistic (or maybe just cautiously pessimistic).
Cat-astrophic Combat (or Just Cat-tastrophe?)
In TactiCats, you’ll engage in dynamic competitions to eliminate your opponents. Or at least, that’s what the press release says. We’ll see if the gameplay lives up to the hype. You’ll supposedly knock down your enemies, expand your collection of cat-players (because everyone knows cats love being collected), utilize power-ups, and complete various tasks and secret challenges. Sounds a bit like a hairball of game mechanics, if you ask us.

Features to Feline Fine About (Maybe)
- Up to 4 players (including bots!): Perfect for those times when your friends are busy doing literally anything else.
- Four varied game modes: Variety is the spice of life, but we’re not holding our breath for groundbreaking innovation here.
- Tasks and secret challenges: Keep your claws sharp and your mind engaged (assuming there’s anything to actually engage with).
- Collectible kittens: Gotta catch ’em all! (Because that worked so well for Pokémon.)
- Couch party purrfection: Ideal for those cozy nights in with friends (who couldn’t find anything better to do).
So, if you’re looking for a new party game to play with your friends (or your cat, who probably won’t care either way), keep an eye out for TactiCats when it launches on Switch later this month. We’re not entirely convinced it’ll be the cat’s meow, but we’re willing to be pleasantly surprised (though we’re not holding our breath).
